| Hey .__. Ich hab nie einen Thread über sie aufgemacht, weil ich immer fester Überzeugung war, dass sie sonst kaum wer hören würde. Aber seit heute morgen, als ich die Nachricht von ihrer Trennung bekommen habe, wollte ich sie einfach mal vorstellen. Mhm...also zur Ehrung dieser großartigen Glasgower Underground-Band, die in meinen Augen leider viel zu unbekannt für ihr Potential waren: THE DELGADOS, seit gestern aufgelöst (s. hp von denen), 10 Jahre Bandgeschichte, 5 Alben. Ich empfehle diese Band eigentlich allen, die britisch folkige, alternativ poppige, leicht rockige Musik mit grandiosem Songwriting und Gesang (wie Travis, Ash oder so) mögen. http://www.delgados.co.uk/ Ihnen gehört das Label "Chemical Underground", bei dem auch Interpreten wie "Mogwai", "Bis", "Arab Strap" und andere erfolgreichere Künstler unter Vertrag sind. http://www.chemikal.co.uk/ Außerdem haben sie das Opening "The Light Before We Land" zu dem Anime "Gunslinger Girl" gemacht, welches auf ihrem Album "Hate" zu finden ist. Naja...sie gehören zu einer meiner Lieblingsbands und werden es auf jeden Fall auch immer bleiben...ach, verdammt...;__;... Höre gerade in voller Lautstärke "Universal Audio", ihr letztes Album, und fühle schrecklich traurig-schöne Nostalgie in mir aufsteigen... | Ich find das auch richtig blöd, dass die sich trennen! Ich bin ja über das Opening (eins meiner Lieblingsopenings)auf die Truppe gekommen, um dann festzustellen, der Rest von denen ist ja fast noch besser! Auch ich verliere eine meiner Lieblingsbands und bin darüber ähnlich gefrustet wie yuukashi. Allerdings eine kleine Hoffnung bleibt ja. Die Trennung heißt ja nicht zwangsläufig, dass die alle aufhören Musik zu machen. Wer weiß vieleicht gibt es ja irgendwann mal zwei neue Lieblingbands aus Ex-Delgados, die genauso tolle Musik machen... |

Emma co-founded The Delgados and their Chemikal Underground record label in the mid-1990s, and as well as being a distinguished, distinctive songwriter, she also possesses one of the most beguiling voices around. Emma will spend the remainder of 2005 writing, demoing and recording. Her debut solo album will be released next year. Obviously we're all really pleased for Emma and hope that the new recordings go well; no doubt they'll be first class. In other news, Alun is continuing to write and demo new material out at Chem19 and you will hear more about that as time goes on I'm sure. Paul and Stewart are continuing to play live with Malcolm Middleton as he begins to promote his outrageously acclaimed album Into The Woods. (...) In other delgado / non-music related stuff, Stewart is continuing to try and finish his mythical Prague iTour. This will eventually constitute a walking tour around Prague that you can download as an MP3 with the dry reflections of the ex-bassist ringing in your ears. One suspects that the Prague tourist board have no idea what they've let themselves in for. Watch this space... The Chemikal Underground website has recently posted a free download of an early demo version of I Fought The Angels as we trawl through the office, unearthing rare delgados material. In addition, there are plans afoot to compile a Peel Sessions album which will hopefully see the light of day by the turn of the year. (...)"
