Alice is the current matriarch of the Ravenclaw family. Unlike in many other pure-blood families, the family estate, Powderham Castle (among some people known as Ravenclaw Manor) is passed on to the oldest child regardless of sex. The castle, situated in Devon, is protected by many powerful enchantments, some of them were invoked by Rowena herself.

The Ravenclaw family quickly died out in the male line and so the name vanished. Since the heirs never boasted with their ancestry, it was soon forgotten as the ages passed. Quick minds and some favourable marriages soon increased their wealth and power in the wizarding world. However, the lords and ladies of Powderham Castle are also well known in the Muggle society.

During the first war against Voldemort, Lady Tabatha decided to actually keep their heritage secret, fearing the Dark Lord would come after them, should he find out. After her death, Alice continued like that, only allowing very few people to know of their legacy. However, there is one problem: Alice's cousin, Abigail, married a Death Eater. And Alice doesn't know whether she told her husband or Voldemort before her death...

Alice is a strong-willed person, who thinks etiquette and manners are important. She is the head of the family, and always ready to show anyone who's boss. She is.

Only after they were married, Alice told him about her famous ancestress Rowena. Roland was impressed, he hadn't known that anyone of that family was still alive.

Alice's father had already died, but he got along very well with her mother, Tabatha. But there was one person in the family no-one got along with - Abigail. She had turned to the dark side and betrayed her own family - which resulted in Tabatha's death...

Roland is just as strong-willed as his wife and daughter, and he is also very tenacious. Defeat is something he can't even imagine. He never gives up, no matter what. And he is very protective of his family. Anyone crossing his family can start arranging his own funeral...

Lilian is the offspring of two very old wizarding families, and through her mother and grandmother a direct descendant of Rowena Ravenclaw. Lily is a dutiful and good student, always on top of her class, popular with both teachers and other students.

Unlike many other pure-bloods, her family doesn't think of themselves as superior to others, they are liberal-minded.

Lily is a loyal companion with a strong sense of righteousness and she also likes to take care of others - even if they might not like that. She is also very stubborn and vindictive. In her 4th year, a boy from Gryffindor pretended to be in love with her because he was after a rich wife. When Lilian found out, she was - understandably - very furious...

Since her parents are close to Dumbledore, Aurors and members of the Order, Lily doesn't doubt Harry's story about Voldemort's return. However, she doesn't show that - yet...

Lydia is a rather cold woman, who seems obsessed with success - be it her own or her daughter's. Her vision of an ideal world is the opposite to the one the Death Eaters have - but just as radical. Lydia believes that all dark wizards should be wiped out.

To her, Harry Potter is a hero, while everyone attending Slytherin House or related to dark wizards is scum. And she raised her daughter to think likewise. Lydia and her husband are well known for their extreme views in the wizarding world.

As a result, she was cast out by her family, and Tabatha disowned her. Infuriated by that - and also because her children would most likely get nothing either - she led an attack on the old matriarch, killing her. Her plan was perfect, but she hadn't taken into account that Roland would come after her so quickly...
