Prologue ^__^
The world is full of criminals, and the police doesn't make it any better. The only hope are the S.S.S. (Silent Subtle Slayers), who kill the villains, making peace in the world. As time goes by, their experience increases, and their rank goes up.
Their goal is to have a better world, in which the people can live in peace; However, the criminals and outlaws never stop, and there are more and more all the time. According to the tale, a witch rises every 200 years, and the next one will be born in less than 2 years.
When that happens, they will have to slay her in order for the humanity to survive. The staff of Mogghen is the only thing that can kill a witch, and that is why Sakura is looking for it, for she is the only one that knows of the legend. She decided not to tell them, for fear that they would leave the team.
Each member had their own qualities, so Sakura gave different missions to them, depending on the skills required.
Mission Failure
“Wait, Haru, I can’t run as fast as you can!” Yelled Rin, stopping to take a break, for she was tired of running. While she was taking a sip of water, Rin saw a rock that was right in front of Haru’s foot. He obviously didn’t notice it, because he didn’t stop running. “Haaaaaaru!” She yelled, but it was too late: her friend had already run into the rock. She ran to him and helped him up. He hurt his knee, and it was bleeding a little. “That’s what you get for not waiting on me, Haru!” She exclaimed, with a dirty look. Rin wiped his knee with a piece of cloth from her shirt that she ripped off. “Uhh… Thank you, Rin.” Haru said, looking away, as if to ignore what she had just said. She tied the cloth to his knee and stood up. With her hands, she shook the dust off her pants. “Let’s keep going. We have a long way to go.” Haru said, with a grin. The girl gave him a puzzled look. They had to continue walking, since Haru’s leg hurt when he ran. The boy started to run, even though it hurt him. “What the hell is this boy made out of?!” Thought Rin, surprised, and she had no choice but to run as well. They came to a point where the road divided into three roads. Haru had a good memory, so he remembered that they had to take the left road, which was to the west, but he wanted to play with Rin, who had a very bad memory. “Which way was it, do you remember, Rin? I forgot.” He smiled a mischievous smile.
“What?! You stupid…” Haru knew she was mad at him, but at the same time ashamed that she didn’t remember herself. He knew she wouldn’t admit that she had forgotten, so he decided to tell her he was joking. The boy opened his mouth to speak, but, just when he was about to say it, a girl came from the eastern road, running. She was looking down, so she didn’t see that they were there. She bumped into Haru. “Watch where you’re going!” Haru was about to say, but he remembered that he wasn’t watching where he stepped when ran into the rock, and he knew that Rin would comment something about that, and instead he just said, “Hi!”
The girl looked up. “Hello! My name is Ayame!”
“Hullo, I’m Rin.” Said Rin and Ayame turned around to face her. “She obviously didn’t even notice I was here…” Thought Rin, but didn’t say anything. “Hai, Rin! Is he your brother?” Ayame said, pointing at Haru.
“No, he’s my friend and team companion. His name is Haru.”
“Oh, I see. Nice to meet you both! May I know what your team is for?”
“No, you can’t, it’s secret.” Haru said sarcastically, with a smile. Ayame and Rin laughed. “Ayame… Her name seems familiar.” Thought Rin, “Oh, that’s right! She’s the girl from school! She’s a girl from Tomoeda!”
“Hey, Ayame, did you study in Tomoeda?” Asked Rin.
“Actually, I did. How did you know?”
“I knew it!” Thought Rin, and said, “Because I went to the same school.”
“Oh! You did? It’s been such a long time…”
“And I thought Rin had a bad memory…” Haru thought, surprised.
“So, where do you guys live? I think I might visit you sometime.” Asked Ayame, smiling.
“We live in Okinawa. In Ebony Street, number 374.” Rin said.
“Ok, thanks.”
“No problem… We have to go though. Good luck!”
“Good-bye!!” Said Ayame, and waved them goodbye.
“Bye, Ayame. Nice to meet you.” Haru said, and Ayame went away. Haru started going to the west, and Rin followed, forgetting that he had told her that he didn’t know which way to go.
Sakura, their leader, had asked them to bring the Staff of Mogghen, and, to do that, they had to take it from Lee Taikkun. He was a very well known criminal, and a professional thief. Lee lived in a big mansion, in the city of Atoka. The police couldn't catch him, for he had guards. He had stolen the Staff of Mogghen, and that is why Sakura had sent them to get it.
Some hours later, they finally got to Atoka. They asked a man where Lee T. lived, and went where he told them.
"Wanna knock on the door, Rin?" Haru asked Rin, mocking her.
"Shut up. It's a thief, it's not like he's going to open the door for us."
Haru unsheathed his boomerang, and used it to break a window. Immediately, five guys jumped out of the window and grabbed Haru by the arm. Rin quickly took her bow, and an arrow from her quiver. She aimed at the guy that was holding Haru, and shot. Her arrow hit the man in the ribs, and he let go of Haru. She ran towards the other four guards, and punched one of them right in the face. Haru hit another one with his boomerang. The two remaining guards took Rin's bow and broke it in two, and then grabbed both of her arms. "That should make her angry..." Thought Haru, and turned around. A man dressed in black had come out of the door. Haru figured that was Lee Taikkun. "Who are you, now?" Asked Lee, "And what do you want?"
Rin struggled to get free, but her attempts were in vain.
"Why would I answer?" She asked, "First, let me free. Then I tell you." Said Rin, with a suspicious look.
"Let her free." Lee commanded, and his men did as he told them.
It was Haru who answered his question. "We are members of the Silent S. Slayers. My name is Haru Nakamura. She is my teammate, Rin Kagoshima. We are here because we want the Staff of Mogghen."
"Heh! What would I have in exchange?" Said Lee, laughing.
"Your life." Said Rin, curtly.
"Tell me, why would I want something I already have?"
"I can take it away from you." Rin grinned, and Haru threw his boomerang at Lee. As expected, he dodged it. Just then, Rin jumped inside where the window used to be. "The problem now is finding the staff. She thought, and went upstairs. There were three doors, but only one was unlocked. She took a needle out of her pocket and unlocked one of the doors. She opened it, to find a big, empty room, except for a large bookshelf full of dusty books. "How long has it been since he cleaned this!" She thought, and started to grab them and throw them at the floor. She uncovered the staff, which was on the top shelf. She took it and turned around. She was about to start running, when one of Lee's men entered the room. "Not so fast, sweetling. Give that to me!" he exclaimed, and grabbed her by the shoulder. With her left hand, she punched him in the stomach.
"Or what?" She said, chuckling, "Good-bye, loser." She left the room and went downstairs as fast as she could. "Haruu! Where are you!?" She yelled, but got no answer. She figured they had covered his mouth. She jumped out the window, and found him laying on the floor, with his mouth bleeding. She bent down and lifted him up. Suddenly, she felt something hit her very hard in the back of her head. She couldn't breathe. Something was squeezing her neck, preventing her to breath. Someone took the staff from her hand. "I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die. I can't breathe!" Was the last thing she thought, before she went unconscious...
Haru was the first one to wake up. He tasted blood, and couldn't remember how he had gotten unconscious. He shook Rin in order to wake her. "Rin! Rin! Wake up!" He exclaimed. She opened her eyes. Tears started running down her face, but she was smiling.
"I thought you... died." She said, and hugged him. He hugged her back, and helped her stand up.
"I guess it's a failure. The first one, and, hopefully, the last." Said Haru, chuckling. Rin smiled, wiped the tears off with her sleeve, and nodded. They went back home and told their teammates what had happened. When she heard it, Takurane yelled: "HOW COULD YOU FAIL!!"~~~
