Looking at the memories

Looking at the memories

Beep

Beep

'WHAT?'

Beep

'What's that noise?'

Beep

My eyes slowly open before quickly shutting again in pain from the bright lights above me.

'Where am I?'I open my eyes again, adjusting to the light. Scanning the room, I find there's nothing much aside from a small bed side table, a bed, which I'm laying in, a small arm chair next to me, and a machine making beeping sounds with a red line dancing up and down in time with my hearts beat.

There's a rainbow of wires leading from my skin to the machines. I'm about to drift into sleep again, but the door opens, revealing a lady.

She gasps when she sees me awake. She rushes to me, and sits in the chair beside my bed. Dark brown hair, which almost looks black, flows down her shoulders and back. Urban brownish-red eyes, she's wearing a black sleeveless top and black shorts. Laying a hand on my forehead, she smiles gently.

"We thought we lost you."

"W..What...?" I scratch out. My throat feels so dry. "What happened?" I try again.

"Ooh, you don't remember. Bumps on the head as serious as yours tend to do that." She chuckles, "You witnessed a robbery and the gang beat you up, before shooting you." Her young face saddens.

"Where am I? Who are you?" I groan, noting I have no idea where I am or who this lady is.

"Oh, sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I'm Tifa Lockheart, I'm your new social worker." She smiles. "You're in the hospital, in Traverse Town."

"Social worker? Traverse Town?"

"Yeah we thought it would better if we moved you, and if you had a new social worker." She grins.

"Who's we? And why have I got a social worker?" I whimper, because of the pain in my chest.

"Well, 'we' are the doctors, your old social worker, and I." She replies. "You have a social worker because you live in the orphanage-- because you're an orphan."

"What?!" I croak loudly. "I'm an orphan?"

"Yeah. You were left at the old orphanage's door-step when you were a baby."

"B...b..But...but...but" I stutter.

"Sorry, but its true." She saddens again. "Oh, and now that you're awake, you will be going to your new orphanage tomorrow." She says, before leaving.

I lay there, almost motionless, except for my chest slowly shifting up and down as I breathe.

'I'm an orphan, why can't I remember?'I think to myself. The day passes slowly, the doctors keep coming in, checking over me. Tifa talks to me for a while, but I don't talk back. I just nod or shake my head, depending on the sentence.

A nice nurse comes in and gives me some food, which is rank: mushy peas and mash.

After all the fussing, its nightfall. The night sky seems peaceful, the stars hiding just behind gray clouds,

'Cloud....why does that word jump out at me?'I push that thought to the back off my mind, before falling into a peaceful slumber.

"Roxas, wake up! Roxas!"

Someone quietly whispers into my ears. I let out a small moan.

My eyes open slowly to see Tifa packing a suit case.

It can't be mine; I haven't got any stuff, have I?

I rise, so I'm leaning against the back of the bed. I watch Tifa pack the case with fascination: she keeps packing clothes which seem way too small for her. I stare at her with curious eyes. She turns to face me with that glowing smile on her face.

"I bought you some new stuff ." She grins happily at me. "Oh, also, I still have the clothes you wore the day you were shot."

"Why?" I ask, cocking my head to the side.

"Because the doctors said it might help jog your memory. Since you've forgotten almost everything." Her smile weakens.

"Oh, okay." I whisper as she leaves the room

I find some clothes that Tifa left on my bed side table. A red and black stripped t-shirt, black skinny jeans, and a pair of red converse.

I try them on, comfortable. After I'm fully clothed, Tifa walks back in, again with that glowing smile of hers.

"Ooh, they look good on you!" She giggles.

"Umm...thanks." I blush.

"Well, come on, the taxi is waiting outside!" She smiles. I think that's all she can do, smile.

I grab my things and walk outside towards the taxi. Some of the nurses say goodbye to me as I walk past.

Tifa and I enter the taxi, which smells of vomit and alcohol. The seats are all damaged, torn up. The taxi driver isn't much better, an obese man, who's shirt seems too small to cover his pot belly.

I start my new journey to a new and hopefully better life.

The town seems nice, full of strange characters, the town is full of colour making it seem cheerful and bright. The journey seems to be taking forever. Most of journey I'm is quiet, just gazing over the town before dozing to sleep.

I feel the car stop, making me wake up. I wonder how long I was asleep. We get out of the Taxi and I'm faced with an enormous red bricked house. Tifa hands me my bags, and we enter my new home.

It's big, the walls are plain white, the floors wood laminated. The house is full of screams, laughter and yelling. We walk into an office and there's a woman waiting for us in her office chair.

She has wild blonde, which seems uncontrollable, supported by a blue band, she has apple green eyes and is wearing a yellow sort-of tank top, a mini skirt, long white socks, with blue and white boots, a red and orange scarf draping around her neck.

"Welcome Roxas, I'm Rikku. I hope you enjoy yourself here." She shakes my hand as she stands up from her chair.

"Thanks." I smile to her.

"Why don't you go upstairs and unpack? Your room is the second one on the left, first floor." She grins as she nods to the door "So I can talk to Miss. Lockheart."

I grab my things before leaving the office so they can talk about me. I walk pass what I think is the living room.

It's big, with a brown couch in the middle with an armchair next to it. There's a small TV in the corner next to an aquarium. There are three kids fighting over the remote, as I take in what the place looks like.

There's a tall boy who looks older than the other two, he has ginger hair which looks like some sort of cow's lick hair style being held up by a blue sweat band, he wears a cream tank top with yellow three quarters, he's holding a remote above his head.

There's a small girl with brown short hair, with innocent green eyes, wearing a small yellow dress trying to reach for the remote. The last one is a boy just a little taller than the girl, he has dirty blonde, spiky hair, sea blue eyes. He's wearing a yellow and white jacket with blue shorts, and is also trying to jump for the remote.

"Come on Wakka give it here!" The girl moans.

"You have to jump for it Selphie." Wakka laughs "You too Tidus."

I simple shake my head because of their childishness before heading for the stairs. I finally reach my room. Nothing special, red walls, and wooden flooring, a bedside table, a wardrobe and a single bed with flames on the pillows.

'Flames' another word that pops out on me.

I sling my stuff onto the bed before joining it. I lay there for a while before someone knocks the door before entering. A girl with brown short hair, green eyes and is wearing a flowery orange shirt with cream shorts. A boy comes in with her, with black crazy hair supported by a sweat band. He's wearing a red and white shirt which say 'Dog Street' and has a picture of a funny looking dog on it and he has blue baggy jeans on.

"Hi. I'm Olette, and this is Pence." The girl smiles.

"I'm Roxas" I grin back as I pull for my suit case ready to unpack.

"Do you want some help unpacking?" Pence asks.

"Ummm, if it's not a problem, sure." I nod to them and then we start to unpack. We're silent at first but then Olette breaks it.

"After we're done unpacking, do you want to get some sea salt ice cream?"

All of the sudden I freeze. Why does that ice cream scream at me? Why is it on the tip of my tongue? I can't remember if I have ever had a sea salt ice cream.

"Roxas?" Pence waves a hand in my face.

"Huh? What? Yeah, okay." I nod.

Axel's POV:

I sit here on a park bench, the sun awaking for the day, cold air nipping at my face, the swings gentle swaying back and forth playing with the wind, the leaves rattling on the ground, dancing together.

I play with my lighter, waiting silently for Cloud.

I start to think about Roxas, about that night. Was I right to do that to him? Did he want this? Even if he said he didn't, I was right to do this, wasn't I?

A small tear escapes my eyes, my hands are trembling terribly. I keep shaking my head. Telling myself 'no I was wrong, Roxas didn't want this, he didn't want to forget.' The mental image of him haunting me in my head and those blue eyes pleading me not to do this.

"I'm sorry, Roxas." I whisper to myself.

Flashback

"No! ROXAS, COME ON, STAY WITH ME!" I yell at him "ROXAS!"

"Sorry" He whispers before his eye lids slowly cover his sea blue eyes.

I hold him carefully in my arms, rocking him softly back and forth.

Why did this have to happen to us?

Why did he do that?

Why did he save me after all I did to him?

I let him get kidnapped, beaten, raped and now shot

I'm worst friend in the world.

God how can I live myself?

I pull my blond closer to me, wrapping my arms tighter around him. I dig my face into his blond locks, tears fall from my eyes, making my cheeks sting before falling into Roxas' hair, making it damp.

"Axel! Come on, we need to get him to a hospital." Cloud whimpers at me as he places his hand on my shoulder.

"No." I shake away his hand "We need to get to Kairi's!"

"What?" Cloud gasps. "Axel, he's going to die if we don't take him to a hospital."

"No I'm not letting him remember all this. He doesn't deserve this!" I cry over his dying form "We're going to Kairi's, then getting Roxas' memory erased."

"But weren't you going to Kairi's to find Namine? To get his memory back ?" Cloud asks with confusion written all over his face.

"Well, I was, until all this happened." I moan. "I don't want to see Roxas every day frightened, haunted by nightmares. I don't want to see his eyes full of fear. I want him to be happy, even if that means......Forgetting me" I cry digging my head closer to Roxas'.

"Axel?" Cloud hovers over me.

"Well come on!" I shout at him as I stand up, holding Roxas in my arms, bridal style. I carry Roxas to the gummi ship, placing him in my lap on the back seat. Cloud gets in with Riku and Sora by the controls.

"What about Xemnas?" Sora questions making me growl as he mentions that name.

"We'll get him another time." Riku answers him "Let's get to the hospital already."

"To Kairi's, Riku." Cloud whispers. "Don't ask." He adds when he sees Riku's confused face.

I lay Roxas on the seat, letting his head rest in my lap. My thumb massages his cheek, while my other hand plays with his golden hair, trapping it between my fingers, stroking it.

I let my dammed tears release, streaming down my face until they fall onto Roxas' face. I quickly notice Cloud's cape, which is wrapped around Roxas' small form, is turning wet.

He's bleeding faster than ever. Instinctively I take off my shirt and cover it over Roxas' wound, applying pressure on it.

The blood soon drowns my shirt, making it feel heavy.

"How's he holding out?!" Cloud cries out to me.

"I don't know!" I panic; I have no idea what I'm doing or supposed to do.

"Check his pulse Axel!" Sora chips in.

I quickly put two of my fingers on Roxas' neck. He has a pulse, thankfully, but it's weak and getting slower. I also notice his skin is a lot colder and paler. His normally pink lips are blue. His whole body covered in a blanket of sweat.

"Hold on Roxie." I whisper.

"A...Ax....." Roxas winces, his eyes open very slightly, his mouth agape. His breathing becoming wheezy, his whole body shaking.

"Roxas..." I gasp, hugging him tightly.

All of the sudden, Sora leaves the controls and gives them to Riku, before leaping and skidding to Roxas' side on the floor. The brunette is trembling, tears filling his eyes threatening to fall. He quickly grasps one of Roxas' hands, and squeezes it gently letting Roxas know he's here.

"Roxas. You're going to be alright, you hear?" Sora whispers into Roxas' ear before weakly smiling at me. I look down at my little Roxas, I spot him trying to grin.

We hold onto Roxas for a while, until Roxas coughs, then coughs again, painfully. And again but more violently, making his whole body shake. He tries to breathe, he coughs, but the air can't reach his lungs. He closes his eyes in pain, but still, he can't breathe.

I sit him up and pat his back trying to help, only making the wound bleed more. As Roxas tries to breathe, I hear someone else groan. My eyes quickly glance at Sora, he's still on the floor, but his hands are clasped over his throat, choking, trying to breathe.

"Cloud!" I yell at the top of my lungs then every thing seems to be in slow motion.

Cloud sprints over to us before kneeling next to Sora, patting Sora's back with worried eyes. I can see Riku steering the gummi ship, turning back with worry in his eyes for his lover and Roxas, before controlling the ship again.

I can feel Roxas shaking against me; his eyes look like they're going to pop out of their sockets. I close my eyes, feeling so useless. When I feel something squeeze my hand.

I look down at my hand and there's another wrapped around it- Roxas.

His hand looks so small compared to mine, his hand is so cold, it's shaking like a leaf.

I quickly glance at Sora, he's still kneeling, but one of his arms is wrapping itself around his chest the other around his throat.

Then all of the sudden Roxas painfully coughs up blood, which covers my jeans, and circles us in a puddle of red. I hear Roxas let out an all mighty gasp, then, finally, both boys can breathe. Roxas lays back down into my lap as Sora nearly collapses onto the floor, only to fall in Cloud's arms. He carries the half awake Sora over to his seat before gently placing him in it. Sora quickly falls into a peaceful sleep. I look down at my blonde, he's still was awake, barely.

"It... hurts..." He whimpers as he curls closer to me, making the world snap out of its slow timing.

"I know." I weakly breathe.

"Guys, we're here!" Riku yells, before he standing to wake up Sora.

"Sora!" Riku shakes the boy, but he doesn't wake. "Sora!" Riku almost screams, worryingly.

"Let him sleep." Cloud says. "He needs to rest."

Without a single word I pick up my shaking Roxas and head out of the Gummi ship. Cloud follows leaving Riku and Sora alone in the ship.

"You sure you want to do this?" Cloud whispers, while he pats Roxas on the head.

"Axel?" Roxas weakly whispers, having no idea what's happening.

"Yeah." I breathe looking down at Roxas' wounds.

We walk silently towards an old looking house. Clouds knocks on the door, and to our surprise, it's not Kairi who answers.

It's Namine.

Thank god.

"Cloud what are you-ROXAS!" Namine screams, which I'm sure, did some hearing damage "What happened?" She cries, as she spots the blood leaking through Cloud's cape.

"We haven't got time." I sob, holding Roxas, who's half asleep, tighter.

"Come in." She pulls us inside. We race after Namine, who's rushing us to the basement. Why the basement? I don't know but I won't ask.

"Maybe..t..this is...where...she's...going to...eat you" Roxas seems to read my mind. He tries to laugh but it comes out as a cough.

"Baby, save your energy." I kiss him on the forehead.

"You... just want...me to...shut up." He tries to chuckle but blood finds its way up his throat making him puke it up.

I wipe away the blood from around his mouth before we enter a room. It's just plain white, everything is white. I walk up to Cloud, who tries to smile, but to me it looks like he's letting out gas. Namine pushes some stuff off a desk, before pointing to it for Roxas to lay on. I rush over to the desk, resting Roxas on it.

" Namine can you.....erase Roxas memory for me?" I moan as I stare at the floor. "Wait, not for me for him."

"Axel why?" Namine asks, as she cleans Roxas' wounds.

"Because.....I don't want this life for him." I almost sob.

"But does he want this?" She smiles so innocently. I shake my head.

"He would say no, because of me"

"Well, I'll ask." She leans over by Roxas' ear and whispers to him.

"N.....No.....I...don't...w...want..to..Forget...A..AXEL!" He spits out.

"I don't care what he says, just do it." I whisper as I feel something wet on my cheek.

"Okay Axel, but I need you to move him on that platform, over there." She points to the platform.

"Sora, Sora, SORA!" Roxas screams. We all stare at him, until a certain little brunette bursts through the door panting. Following behind him is Riku.

"Roxa....." Sora gasps before collapsing to the floor, Riku jumps, helping his weak friend up.

"I'm sorry." I pick up Roxas bridal style. He starts thumping my chest weakly, sobbing that he doesn't want this. He grunts a few times but I just ignore him until I place him on the platform. The glass forms into an eggs shape, capturing Roxas inside, he's screaming, kicking and punching the glass until his hands start to bleed. Then he falls on his knee, burying his head into his hands, tugging at his hair.

"No Axel! Please!" He begs. His eyes drowning themselves in tears.

"I'm sorry Roxas..." I whimper as I turn away from him "Namine you can start." Then Namine starts to erase his memories, making Roxas fall unconscious.

"AHHHH!" Sora cries, digging his head into Riku's chest, "It... hurts"

The memories in Sora's head must be returning to him from Roxas. Which makes me cry even harder than ever, knowing Roxas is going through the same thing. I can't take it any more so I just run out of the room. I reach Namine's living room and sling myself on the couch.

Tears sting their way down my face as I hear someone's footstep close by. I quickly get up and face the owner of the footsteps before wiping the tears from my cheeks. Only to be faced with Kairi.

"Axel what are you doing here"? Shes asks cocking her head to the side like Sora.

I try to tell her but it just chokes in my throat and thankfully I'm saved by the cries of Sora from down stairs. Kairi jumps before making her way to the basement to her Sora. I don't want to follow but my feet don't agree with me, dragging me to the basement. As I enter I see Roxas sleeping on the desk and Sora sleeping in Riku's and Kairi's arms. My feet pull me across the room to where Roxas is. He looks so peaceful, his breathing slightly heavy. I know this is the last time I will ever be this close to him. I gently pick him up in my arms, I never realised how light he is. I pass him to Cloud and tell him to get him to a hospital. And that's the last time I see Roxas .

END FLASHBACK

"Axel." Cloud calls, walking up the path towards me.

"Is it done, he's safe. Right?" I question.

"Yeah, he's been taken to Traverse Town orphanage, like you wanted." Cloud answers. "What are you going to do now? The organization will still be after him."

"No they won't. With Mansex in prison, they won't touch him." I chuckle "I'm just going to watch over Roxas and make sure no harm comes to him".

"Okay. Well, I'm heading out with Riku and Sora." Cloud turns to leave.

"Wait! How's Sora?" I whisper, knowing how close Sora was with Roxas.

"He's holding up okay, he's still a bit shaken." Cloud says, continuing walking away until he's out of sight.

"I'll look after you Roxas, and always will." I whisper to myself.

Roxas POV:

"So Roxas have you ever had a sea salt ice cream?" Pence asks.

"Not that I can remember." I chuckle as we walk towards the shops.

"Well, come on! Let's get one for you" Olette excitedly screams, jumping up and down while clapping her hands.

"Okay." I laugh as she grabs my wrists and pulls me along to the ice cream shop. The shop is full of people, from toddlers to old ladies. Ice creams of every flavour dance around the room.

Olette lets me and Pence look around the shop while she buys the ice creams. The shop's not big at all, pretty small.

The smell of ice cream stinks up my nose. The taste drowning my mouth, almost making me drool. After Olette buys the ice creams she drags us out of the shop and towards this big tower thing.

It's pretty high up when you look up at it from the ground. But when your on top, it's petrifying. I could feel my world spin in fear, but I soon snap out of my fear when Olette shoves a ice cream in my face, then we all sit on the edge of the tower.

The wind is gentle on my skin, the setting sun glows warmly, heating my whole body.

I study the ice cream, until I realize its melting. I take my first bite of it. It tastes salty. Really salty, but also sweet. I take another bite but this time a sharp pain shoots through my head. A white light flashes before my eyes.

Then my mind turns blank nothing but white. A young man around nineteen is standing there, looking right at me.

He has a mane of red crazy hair, green serpent eyes with two upside down tear drops under them. Other people start to appear, there's a boy with brown spiky hair, ocean blue eyes, along with a cheesy smile stretched across his face.

There's another boy a little older than the brunette, he has snowy white hair with turquoise eyes. Many other people appear, a spiky haired blonde, a brunette with a single scar in his face, a small blonde girl and a redhead girl.

Then they all disappear into dust. I feel my head slowly fall forwards before being sharply yanked back.

My world turns back into reality. My eyes go back into focus, there are two people looking down at me. Pence and Olette. I quickly jump into a sitting position. My head feels like some one just hit me across the head with a sledge hammer.

"Roxas! Are you okay man?" As Pence leans over, I place a hand on my forehead hoping the pain will dull. I try to answer, but it comes out a cough. Olette pats my back trying to help get my breathe back. I let out a shaky breath before lying back down.

"W...What...hap...pened?" I croak.

"You went completely blank then you nearly fell off the tower but Pence pulled you back just in time" She smiles, trying to cheer me up. Why do I need cheering up?

I hold out my hand and Pence helps me to my feet. I stumble at first, like a newborn calf, but soon get steady. We climb down the steps of the tower before I hear a weird noise.

"What's that?" I ask cocking my head to the side.

"Sorry, it's my phone." Olette pulls out a small pink phone and answers it. "Hello?......Sure....Great....When.?... Now?....Okay......See you soon."

"Hayner?" Pence asks and she nods.

"Come on. Hayner wants us to meet him at Destiny Islands." She chuckles.

"Who's Hayner?" I ask.

"He's one of our friends." Pence laughs as Olette pulls us to the Train station. We don't wait long for a train to arrive, and the ride only takes 20 minutes until we reach Destiny islands.

We find a young boy, with blonde hair waiting for us at the station. He looks up at us before waving his hand. He runs over to us and slaps Pence on the back, playfully.

"What took you guy so long?" He pouts with his hands on his hips.

"We were having some ice cream." Olette smiles.

"Wait, who's he?" Hayner questions, pointing a finger at me.

"Oh. That's Roxas, he's new." Pence grins as he pushes me in front of him, showing my self to Hayner.

"Well, hi Roxas." Hayner says, as he stretches out his hand. I smile back at him, before shaking his hand. "Well, come on! Lets go to the beach already!"

At that we race each other to the beach, which is extremely difficult since I have never been here or know my around, so I just follow them.

We finally reach the beach.

It's beautiful.

The sky's a perfect blue, the sun warming the golden sand, The gentle breeze keeping everything a little cool and the hypnotizing sea dancing. We all dive into the sea, fully clothed. The sparkling water spraying in out faces.

The gulls laughing at our entertainment. The water feels good against my skin, the sand sinking into my shoes, grinding against my toes. The sun beating down on me, the water making my hair droop, my eyes hiding behind my mash of blonde hair, which looks slightly brown when wet. A slap of cold water hits my face as Hayner smiles at me.

"Last one to that island has to wash Rikku's feet!" Hayner wickedly grins before heading back to shore and towards the island. Olette and Pence follow.

But they don't see the little ladder at the back of the little island with a single palm tree on it. I run towards the ladder until my feet are swept from under me. I swim up to the ladder as fast as I can as I see the guys racing across the bridge. I jump onto the islands before they reach it. I stand up laughing at their faces.

"Aww, no fair! I always lose." Pence pouts and we all laugh at him.

"How did you know that there was a ladder?" Olette asks. The only reply she gets is a shrug from me.

"How about a little struggle match practice?" Hayner laughs holding two large sticks "All we have to do is hit each other until someone gives up?" He points out when he sees the confused face I'm showing.

"Umm, okay." I weakly smile and catch one of the sticks he passes to me.

"Ready" He asks as he grips his stick firmly before I nod to him. He charges at me, rising his stick high in the air. I jump back as he plunges it down.

I leap forward landing my stick on his side, before hitting him behind the legs. He jumps for me again but I roll to the side then smacking my stick into his gut. He quickly recovers, then tries to hit me, again and again. I keep dodging his attacks.

"Roxas! Where'd you learn to fight like this?" He pants before landing his attack, hitting me square in the face. A white light creeps in front of my eyes, blinding me.

The world around me freezes. Olette, Pence and Hayner all frozen. Stiff as statues before they disappear into dust. The world unfreezes but suddenly it nearly sun set.

There's two kids playing on the beach, their fighting each other with wooden swords. The smaller of the two, has brown spiky hair, with electric blue eyes, he's wearing a white t-shirt with blue rims. He has red shorts with black sandals. He looks about four years old.

The older looking boy has shoulder length white hair with turquoise eyes, he looks a little older then the brunette about a year older.

As they play, I spot a young man about nineteen watching them. The man has brown hair, with crystal blue eyes, wearing a black shirt sort-of thing, a big red cross coming from his shoulders. He has some armor on his left shoulder, and is wearing cream trousers which seem way too big for him.

I can see his mouth moving but can't hear what he's saying. Suddenly his blue eyes stare at me, his eyes go wide then he starts to speak again.

"Why are you like this?!" He screams at me, tears almost escaping his eyes. Then he disappears along with the two boys. Then it all turns black, I feel myself falling before something cold sharply stings my whole body. I feel myself sink then nothing.

"Roxas." A voice calls out. The voice is gentle, it's male but some how a face doesn't match it. It feels like I know the owner of the voice like a far off memory.

"Roxas!" A different voice calls me, this time it's Pence

I open my eyes, they squint at the sun's rays. I look up and there are three faces looking down at me. I try to breath but I can't, I cough painfully and throw up water. Pence rubs my back trying to help me get out all of the water. Once all it's all out of me, I sit up weakly.

"W..what...happened?" I cough. This is happening a lot lately.

"Once Hayner hit you, you just froze. Then you fell off the island and started drowning in the sea, and we had to pull you out." Olette explains.

"Roxas what's wrong with you, this is the second time you've done this, why are you like this"? Pence asks. The question hits me hard. 'Why are you like this'?

That's what the man said. I freeze in fear, I feel a hand press on my shoulder. Pence is kneeling next to me, resting his hand on my shoulder. Suddenly I feel tear crash down my face, I curl my fingers into Pence's shirt before digging my head into his chest.

Pence sits there shocked, he doesn't know what to do so Olette save him by pulling me off him and curling me into a hug. I can feel my whole body shaking, I dig myself deeper into the hug.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you, I wanted to save you..." I cry, shaking my head but my voice it isn't my voice.

It sounds a lot sweeter and calmer than mine. The other don't realize this but I do. Was that part of my memory? It felt real but I'm sure that wasn't mine. That wasn't my memory.

"Let's go home, so you can rest." Hayner smiles handing me his hand to help me to my feet.

"No, please can we stay? I don't want to spoil your day." I whimper taking his hand.

"O..Okay" Hayner laughs "Come on lets get some pretzels" We all head off.

4 months later – December 3rd

"Roxas, come on! We're going to be late. Again." Olette pouts.

"I'm coming! Hold your horses!" I rumble, trying to get my school shoes on. I finally get them on, and we race to the door, before a voice calls to us.

"Wait you four! You don't have your lunch money!" Rikku calls running towards us before handing us some money. We all say thanks before racing to catch the school bus.

The bus, as usual, is noisy, with screaming kids and a bossy bus driver. The bus drive only takes twenty five minutes until we reach Traverse Town high.

The school's not very large, the classes are long and boring as every school is. My first day was scary as hell. Most of the other the kids are taller than me even the younger kids, no fair.

The teachers are strict and I always seem to get lost even if its a small school. The worst thing about the school is the school diners.

Where did they get it from? The dustbin around the corner.

If you ask for a hamburger, don't be surprised if you get some grey blob thing.

Another thing: we have to wear uniforms. A white long sleeved shirt, light blue checked trousers along with a light blue tie on, not forgetting the most uncomfortable school shoes.

As soon as we walk into school, we're are greeted by Seifer's gang.

The school bullies. And for some reason they hate us the most. His gang is made up of Vivi, Fuu, Rai and Seifer himself.

"What's up, chicken-wusses?" He mocks at us. We just ignore him, but he pokes me in the shoulder, making me turn around to him. "I heard you nearly drowned at Destiny islands, and then you started crying." He smirks at me.

"Leave Roxas alone! He's had a tough life." Olette sticks up for me.

"Oh, I forgot. He's an unwanted orphan." He laughs right in my face.

'Unwanted?' Is that what I am? I drop my gaze to floor not wanting to look anyone in the face.

"Oh look, Rucksack is going to cry." He chuckles, and that's all I can take. I clench my fists, before letting them meet with Seifer's face.

He goes tumbling into Fuu, and they both crash onto the floor.

Everyone who just saw is laughing. Hayner is laughing the hardest.

Then the bell for first lesson rings, but I don't get to go to class, as one of the teachers orders me to the head mistress' office.

I slowly enter the office only to meet the awaiting Miss Yuna. She has brown hair which is in a long ponytail and she has one green eye and one blue eye but you have to look really closely to notice but I've been here a lot so I pick up on a few things. I make my way over to a chair in front of her desk before dropping myself in it.

"What am I going to with you, Roxas?" She questions me almost sighing.

"I dunno." I shrug.

"This is the sixth time you have been sent to my office this past month." She sighs "What did you do this time?"

"I punched Seifer in the face" I grin , happily.

"Roxas" She pouts "Why?"

"I..I just got angry..." I soften my tone.

"Roxas you have to ignore what he tells you, ignore and forget....."She whispers but I interrupt her.

"THAT'S WHAT I'VE ALREADY DONE, I'VE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING, THERE'S NOT MUCH TO LEFT TO FORGET!"

I scream at her, making her jump in her seat. Everyone in the school knows I can't remember my past, so its nothing new to her.

"Roxas, please calm down." She softly says "Why don't you just go home?"

I nod to her before storming out of the office. I run out of the school and again spot that man.

He's here everyday, he never comes to me, he keeps his distance. He has a long black coat with a hood, which always hides his face. If I ever try to approach him, he always runs away, then disappears. It kind of creepy. Ever since I moved here, I see him.

I just ignore him and race to the orphanage. I'm running so fast my feet start to burn, I pass the corner and end up at a lane which is a short cut to my home.

The lane is dark and scary. The floor is dusty and full of glass.

It seems cold as I step in. I feel all my hairs on edge. I hear laughter all around me, shadows then appear from the corners of the lane. Three men surround me, like lions circling their prey, until they attack for the kill.

"What's wrong little boy?" One of them mock, smacking a bat against his palm.

"Are you lost?" Another smirks.

"Get lost!" I shout.

"Well, that's not very nice, is it?" The fat man smiles. "We'll have to punish you for being rude."

At that the fat man charges at me. He throws a fist to my face but I quickly dodge his attack. Another man swings his bat at me, but I roll out of the way. I try to run away but a hand grabs the scruff of my neck and yanks me back to the floor. I land on the cold dirty floor with a bang, before staring up at the three man.

"Nightie night, kiddo." The fat man smirks before lifting his fist up in the air. I close my eyes and get ready for impact but nothing comes. I open my eyes to see The hooded man is fighting with two of the mugs. The fat man lays unconscious next to me.

"Run." The hooded man orders, and I obey. I sprint until I reach my home. I crash through the doors, panting, before bashing into Rikku. We both tumble onto the floor in a heap of mess.

"Roxas, what's wrong?" She ask worrying helping me get on my feet.

"I got sent home from school and then these thugs they tried to beat me up but a man in a hood saved me." I say so fast I don't think she heard.

"Are you okay?!" She cries, checking if I'm hurt.

"I'm fine." I smile as I shove her hand off me.

"Wait, why were you sent home from school?"

"Ummmm.....I forgot my homework?" I lie.

"Roxas?" She moans, putting her hands on her hips.

"Fine... I punched Seifer in the face, he pissed me off." I pout, putting on my innocent face.

"Roxas, go to your room." She orders. Innocent face fails once again.

I climb up the stairs into my room. I leap onto the bed and stare out of my window.

The sun is still high, there's no clouds out today. But the airs stone cold, like it always is at this time of the year. It's quiet like it always is.

God, why is this town so boring?

I get of my bed and go search for stuff in my room. I find a old tooth brush, which isn't mine (Gross), a couple sweet wrappers, and my old clothes which I have to keep so they can help me remember.

Well, it isn't a lot of clothing, just some blood stained jeans ( they said not to wash them because they might help) and a red blood drowned cape.

I run my fingers over the materials, my finger go over the jean's pockets and there's something inside it. I pull out a folded photo. I open it up. Its a photo of three kids. One of them is a young girl with black short hair with blue eyes and has the biggest grin ever. The other one's me, I look so happy and the other person is a red head with flaming hair and charming green eyes, he's leaning on my head with his tongue out. We all look so happy. Suddenly, I freeze in fear, The photo floats to the floor as memories slap me in the face.

'..Sounds like fun...I can make it better....hold on.....don't you remember.....I love.....it was just a nightmare...how baby....please s..stop....ROXAS....you idiot....sorry....I don't care....I'm sorry.....'

Voices of memories crawl into my head. My head screams out in pain. My hands instinctively cover my head trying to dull the pain, The floor hits my face then nothing but silence.

Axel's pov.

I've watching him for almost four months now.

I saw him up at the tower.

I saw him almost drown at Destiny islands.

I see him every day going to school.

I know he sees me too but he's doesn't know its me. Sometime I feel like going up to him and giving him a big hug and telling him I love him but I can't and that's what ripping me apart.

I watch Roxas run out of the lane before I turn around, stepping over the unconscious bodies to go home.

The house that I'm now staying at, the small house where Roxas first woke up after I rescued him. I'm staying with Sora, Riku and Cloud.

I walk up to the house, I'm so tired, I feel like I could sleep for days. I linger into the living room before slinging myself on the couch.

"Long day." Sora comes in smiling like always. How can that boy be happy all the time?

"What made you think that?" I smirk back at him.

"Axel!" He screams, his eyes wide in shock. "You're bleeding!"

"It's nothing." I laugh as I run my finger against the cut.

"How did you get it?" He asks innocently. I could have a bit of fun with this, he's so gullible.

"I got hit by a lorry." I just simple say shrugging.

"YOU GOT HIT BY A LORRY?!" He shouts.

"Sora, you're too easy." I laugh at him, hiding my face in a pillow. But I don't hear him reply, no snort, huff or pouting-just silence "Sora?" I question before looking at him.

He's staring into nothing, his eyes all cloudy, his whole body shaking violently and there's tears sweeping down his face. "Riku!" I scream as loud as I can as I sit up. At that Riku charges into the room before seeing Sora.

"Sora!" He screams, running over to him. But Sora doesn't reply, he just keeps staring into space.

"..Sounds like fun...I can make it better....hold on.....don't you remember.....I love.....it was just a nightmare...how baby....please s..stop....ROXAS....you idiot....sorry....I don't care....I'm sorry....." Sora chants over and over.

"What's happening to him?" I panic.

"I don't know. Cloud was here last time, he knows what to do." Riku whimpers staring at Sora but not touching him.

"Last time?" I ask.

"Never mind, we need Cloud!" He screams at me, I quickly pull out my phone before phoning Cloud.

"What?" A sharp moody blonde answers.

"Cloud, we need you quickly!" I scream into the phone.

"Axel, calm down. What's wrong?" He worryingly asks.

"We don't know, but something's wrong with Sora."

"It's the connection. I'll be there now, just keep talking to him." He hangs up.

"What did he say?" Riku asks.

"Just keep talking to him, until Cloud arrives" I bark at him.

"Sora, it's going to be okay. You're going to be fine, you're here with us. Sora, can you hear me? Sora just listen, your...."

Riku whines but doesn't get to finish as Clouds bursts through the doors. He races over to Sora before lifting the boy's head by his chin.

Cloud looks straight into Sora's misty eyes before racing to the bathroom. He comes back but with a syringe in his hand. He grabs hold of Sora, who gasps at the touch. Cloud tilts the boy's head to the side before inserting the needle into his neck.

Sora finally stops chanting. He stops shaking. His eyes slowly close, but the tears keep on coming. His legs crumble from underneath him. He nearly collapses, but Cloud catches him, before lowering himself to the floor.

"What's wrong with him?" Riku whispers, laying a hand on the brunette's forehead.

"Sora can feel Roxas. Something's wrong, but I don't know what." Cloud shakes his head as I run towards the door.

"R.....R.....Roxas." Sora whines, before going fully unconscious.

Roxas' pov

I awaken in a lightly lit white room. I rise up from the floor and my eyes search the room it's completely empty. I don't know where the light is coming from.

There no light bulbs or windows.

I run towards one of the walls but when I run towards it, it seems to be running away from me. I close my eyes to think what should do but then something starts to burn at my eye lids so I open them. There's a big white light shining in the middle of the room, a boy appears from the white light. He has brown wild hair, with sky blue eyes. He's smiling at me but there's tears tripping down his face. He's holding a letter in his hand. He walks forwards then hands me the letter. I hold it tightly in my hand before looking back at him but he's disappearing.

"You're coming back" He smiles before vanishing.

I open the letter he gave me.

'A scattered dream like a far off memory

A far off memory like a scattered dream

I want to line the pieces up

your and mine.'

Then the world around me turns back into reality and I'm lying back in my room. I don't want to move my head is killing me. The photo is laying next to me. I get up onto my knees and look at the photo. Shock passes through my body.

"That's him!" I scream as I put the photo in my pocket before racing outside. I run through all the streets, searching for the hooded man.

My heart is beating against its cage. My breath panting for air. My whole body feels alive, but dead at the same time.

I spot him running towards my direction but he stops as he see me and quickly turns the corner. I chase after him, he runs into a lane, dead end.

"Stop!" I shout at him and he turns around to face me but with his hood up "Who are you?"

"Your guardian angel." He chuckles sadly.

"Stop messing me around and tell me who you really are!" I command him.

"Me? Well, I'm just a forgotten memory, got it memorized?" He laughs.

"Shut up, and tell me please." I beg him.

"I'm nobody, literally. I'm nobody." He sadden as he opens up a black portal. How am I okay with this? He just opened up a portal!

"Wait, don't leave." I whimper stepping forwards.

"Sorry Kiddo." He whispers as the portal opens completely.

"Axel!" I cry out.
