Even though he’s very close to his twins Haruka & Haruko, he doesn’t share a lot of things with them, despite taking part in weird rituals and pranking other people. He’s pretty lazy and laid-back, and also likes to sleep a lot. Aside from sleeping and taking care of cats, Haruhi’s only hobby is playing with fire. Later on, he experiments with fireworks and eventually becomes a pyrotechnic. One time in his teens, he almost burned the house down and sent especially Makoto into a panic. Ever since then, he wasn’t allowed to have a lighter in his room…but still does so anyway. Despite this severe slip-up, Haruhi has a good relationship with Makoto and keeps living with his parents, even after finding a job and technically being able to support himself. He really likes the family cats, calling them his “children”. They are one of the reasons why he doesn’t want to move out. Haruhi doesn’t really have friends outside his family, but doesn’t care, because he doesn’t need them. His best friends are his twins. Even after getting to know Xifeng and forming a bond with her, he still doesn’t want to leave his family’s house. Luckily, she does not mind and also still lives with her parents. He really doesn’t like being pushed into doing anything and really enjoys her relaxed attitude.
