He’s incredibly anxious and stressed out basically 24/7, which also caused his hair to start turning gray before he was 20. The main reason for his stress & anxiety are his feelings for Haruko, which he tried everything to get rid of because he knows it’s wrong, but nothing worked. In his teens, he had a lot of girlfriends, but nothing lasted very long. He also went to America for an exchange year in high school, and later went to collage there in an attempt to get some distance to Haruko …but Haruko followed him and visited as often as possible, making this plan fail miserably as well. Ever since Haruko’s accident when he was 4, the two of them have been inseparable and became codependent. Taki also had to carry Haruko around a lot in the beginning and still does this to this day, whenever Haruko doesn’t feel like using his walking aid. Taki’s relationship with his father Makoto is also very bad because of this, with them fighting all the time. Aside from Iori, who is also not very keen about Taki for the same reasons as Makoto, he gets along well with his siblings. Finally, after every possible way out failed and Haruko even decided to leave school early and move in with Taki, he chose to just accept this situation. This, of course, doesn’t make it better, but at least he has a shoulder to lean on and cry now. Despite being pretty popular and doing very well in his career, Taki always feels like a failure, and only finds comfort when he’s with Haruko and their cats. He’s an anxious mess with a very bad attention span and memory due to his stress & anxiety disorder.
